Let’s Do a #TacoCleanse

Step away from the juicer. It’s time for a new type of cleanse… a “taco cleanse.” Although a “taco cleanse” may sound like a joke, tacos can be a surprisingly serious way to achieve optimum health. Recently invented by Lazy Smurf, a vegan food blogger, the Taco Cleanse is exactly what it says it is: a daily eating regimen comprised entirely of tacos. Unlike other cleanses, however, the Taco Cleanse has different levels. You can do a mild Taco Cleanse (1 day), medium (3 days), hot (1 week), and feugo (1 month).

Although the Taco Cleanse may not be the healthiest option for the normal Taco Bell enthusiast, vegans are at a huge advantage. When done right, normal taco ingredients like salsa, black beans, and guacamole are full of health benefits. The best part of the Taco Cleanse is that you make a taco out of anything, so it can be as healthy or decadent as you want. Lazy Smurf has had a raw taco, a pad thai taco, and even a chaco taco. The Taco Cleanse has been a transformative and introspective experience for Lazy Smurf, forcing her to ask the age old question: what is a taco?

If this is considered a taco (and why not?), I am so ready for this cleanse.

I love the concept of the Taco Cleanse in itself, but my favorite part is the supplements. Lazy Smurf says, “Now, I want to be clear that supplementing is acceptable as long as you are getting all of your tacos in. Margaritas should be added on an as needed basis for the top levels of the cleanse but at FUEGO you should be adding them at least a couple of times a week, working up to every day.” I don’t know about you guys, but any cleanse that involves margaritas is my kind of cleanse.

If you’re ready to go on the Taco Cleanse but not sure how to go about it, Lazy Smurf provides a comprehensive starter guide. You’ll detox your body and feel that taco power before you know it!
